IVORY SUSPECTS CHARGED


Two ivory smuggling suspects arrested yesterday were today arrainged before Kibera Law court facing criminal charges. The two 57 year old Ruth Ochola and Stephen Glommi Mbot denied the charges before Kibera acting Chief Magistrate David Ochenja.
 
45 year old Stephen told the court that he was a Lawyer by profession and an activist. Stephen also added that he had been set up when charges of being in illegal possession, dealing with a government trophy and failing to make a report to authorities were read.
 
The two were remanded in custody till 14th March 2013.
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials arrested the two with five pieces of ivory in their hideout at Umoja estate, in Nairobi, following a tip off from the public.
